THE AVALON THEATRE

Built for the residents of Grand Junction by local publishing giant Walter Walker in 1923, the Avalon Theatre was and still is one of Western Colorado's largest performing arts halls. It is located in the Downtown Shopping Park at 645 Main Street.

With Grand Junction being centrally located between Denver and Salt Lake City, the Avalon is a perfect fit as a stopping point for major acts between cities. World-renowned artists such as Al Jolson, John Philip Sousa, Ethel Barrymore, Collective Soul, Lyle Lovett, John Prine and Pat Benatar have graced its stage.

The Avalon Theatre also features a foreign and independent film series; dance, theatrical, lecture and variety shows; and private functions. The façade and lobby areas already having been restored to their original splendor. We invite you to come by and see the restoration and enjoy some of the talent and entertainment Grand Junction has to offer.

Seating more than 900 people and with its unique layout, the Avalon offers its patrons an intimate theater experience with excellent acoustical quality and great visibility of the stage. We truly believe that every seat in the house is a good one. The Avalon Theatre is open year-round.

If you’re looking for a venue for your next event, the Avalon, which offers a wide array of rental options to fit your needs, is just what you’re looking for.
